Hier in de herberg,
waar het bier altijd vloeit,
daar zit het wonderlijkste volkje,
dat lacht en dat stoeit.

Frank die zit vooraan,
met zijn kelk in de hand,
en neemt een teug, en slacht een zeug,
want hiernaast is er brand.

Niemand die iets door heeft,
want we zijn extravagant.

Het dak staat in lichterlaai,
maar Frank blijft nonchalant.

Hij heft zijn kelk trots,
neemt een flinke teug.

Frank braadt op de brand zijn geslachte zeug.

Here in the tavern,
where the beer never stops flowing,
sits the strangest little crowd,
laughing and larking about.

Frank sits at the head of it,
his goblet in hand,
takes a swig, and slaughters a sow,
because next door there is a fire.

Nobody notices a thing,
because we are extravagant.

The roof is ablaze,
but Frank stays nonchalant.

He raises his goblet proudly,
takes a good long swig.

Frank roasts his slaughtered sow on the fire.
